My goal as a quilter is to Empower you to be in control of as much or as little of the creative process as you'd like. You can select the quilting design to match your quilt top, we can do it together or you can have me decide. My personal aesthetic has no boundaries, I love traditional looks as well as more modern ones.  I like the quilting to be in harmony with the  aesthetic of the piecing and the fabric you chose.   I do favor more dense quilting with the goal of giving your top a lovely texture that compliments your patchwork, but I work with clients to determine the best density for their liking.

Not sure where to start?

I would love to help! When you get an estimate, we will work through the intake process together!

Square Inch Price

I charge per square inch for all designs.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 square inches.

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting Availability

Batting

I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 100% cotton, and in the 100% poly. I have limited quantities of other batting in stock, we can special order - please ask for availability.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 6" margin) and charge per inch.

For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 66" of the batting of your choice.
66" of 100% cotton mid loft @ $0.43/in = $28.38
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.41/in = $27.06
65" of 100% poly @ $0.33/in = $21.78

For large Quilts (bigger than 87 inches on the longest side), I have King Size batting packages available.

Thread

I stock Glide thread in an array of colors. I charge $1 per bobbin used, it is estimated at intake and tracked during quilting.

My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the mid tones of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.

Backing

I currently do not carry backings, but I can source them for you for a fee. I also have recommended partners for you to work with to get your backing. And sometimes they have a discount for you!

What size should my backing be?

Here's an easy way to remember: Four-for-four! :) I require the backing to be 4" extra ON ALL SIDES. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 68" x 88". It can be bigger, not smaller. Extra fees may apply if I need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions, please ask. I'm passionate about being able to give you results you will love. Teamwork! :)

Quilt Prep

Please press your top and backing for me so that it's nice and tidy and ready for me to load. Please also clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, please don't skip this important step!

Photography and Social Media Posting

I'm not a professional photographer but I do my best to take "nice" photos.  Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt in my well-lit studio. During intake you will be asked if I can post pictures of your quilt on social media. If you don't want me to post, that's okay, I can send you a text or email with the picture. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Shipping

Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Iowa, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your project form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.

Other Costs

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Iowa to collect a 7% sales tax on the quilting service portion of an invoice. Batting, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax if outside the state of Iowa.

Payment

After the work is complete, I will invoice you via Square. I really do appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away. I can accept credit cards online through square and cash or check payments in person.
